A few days ago I recorded an interview with Tom Petryshen, CEO of Amplify, a company that helps Australia’s top brands increase traffic and sales via search engine optimisation (SEO), paid search marketing (SEM), email, and affiliate marketing. I asked Tom to explain SEO to me in the simplest terms he could. We talk some of the basic things you need to do to make sure your site is being found and ranked by the leading search engines.

HAHAHA I got to the bit in the your podcast Cam where you mention that if you put the term PODCAST in google, TPN is at the top of the 5th page. As of 10:26 hours on 09/12/06, TPN is on the bottom of page 2 (with a bullet)

Really interesting show Cam.
Particularly interesting to me at the moment because of my project with Nay. We’ll eventually be wanting to boost the project blogs profile so I’ll be having another listen to that once things get going.

Rob - sorry mate, as i posted up on the forum, we had technical issues last night. The version of Skylook i was running wouldn’t work with Skype 3 beta and the Skylook servers were down so I couldn’t get the new version. Come on next week?

We shall see where I am… next Friday is our last work day for the year, so who knows what will happen. I also have someone over from the US for the next three weeks, so entertaining her could see a decrease in online time.

Everyone should get a google “sitemaps” [www.google.com/sitemaps] account setup. It lists all the terms you’re ranked for and the average position (you can even filter it down to smaller regions [eg .com.au]). It does a host of other SEO things too and is free.
