I think they already know this is a fight to the death. Bottom line is that (many of the) people of Palestine feel like they have been invaded and they want their country back (certainly Hamas feels that way). Which is understandable. The people of Israel aren't going to leave. Which is understandable also. And the USA needs as many military bases in the middle east as possible, so they won't tolerate any Israeli administration that takes a weak position on Palestine. It's a hard one, that's for sure.
