G’Day World Video - Peter Ellyard discusses “Designing 2050″

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

I had the pleasure once again today to catch up with Dr Peter Ellyard, Australia’s leading futurist, one of our most popular public speakers and, of course, author of the historic first book published by TPNTXT:
“Designing 2050: Pathways to sustainable prosperity on spaceship earth”.
The auction for two signed proof copies of the book can be [...]

Today it’s again my pleasure to catch up with Dr Peter Ellyard, Australia’s leading futurist. We caught up for lunch in South Yarra today and chatted about why visionaries often feel frustrated with their own progress, the need for a world democracy and how shareholders can use their voting power to effect political change.
G’DAY [...]

Cam’s World 26 June, 2007

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

Half the time I try to open a Microsoft Word attachment in my email (which is Gmail through the browser) I get this error message:

Windows doesn’t seem to know that Word is the application to open a .doc. Anyone else seen this? Damn annoying!

If you want to know what carbon trading is all about, [...]

Kurzweil doesn’t believe global warming is a problem

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Didn’t expect THAT, did you?
I’m prepping for my chat with Vint tomorrow morning and happened upon this recent interview with Kuzweil on CNNMoney where he says:
“These slides that Gore puts up are ludicrous,” says the man who once delivered a tech conference presentation as a singing computer avatar named Ramona. (That stunt was the [...]

Cam’s World 30 April, 2007

Monday, April 30th, 2007

While I was working out today I watched “Land Of The Dead“, George Romero’s 2005 4th zombie flick, starring Aussie actor Simon Baker, Dennis Hopper, Asia Argento and John Leguizamo. What a great way to pass a couple of hours of otherwise-boring exercise.
Two things I loved in particular with the “Making Of” doco.
1. [...]

White House gagged scientist

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

From the LA Times’ coverage of the Hansen case:
James Hansen, director of the Goddard Institute for Space Studies in the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, took particular issue with the administration’s rule that a government information officer listen in on his interviews with reporters and its refusal to allow him to be interviewed by National [...]

G’DAY WORLD 197 - Climate Change, Fake Bombs, and Comments

Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

John Howard *still* doesn’t want to do anything about climate change. The Cartoon Network pays $2 million in fines in the cheapest ad buy this year. And I review some of the recent comments on the blog. All that and not much more on tonight’s show.
If you enjoyed this podcast, make sure you don’t [...]

G’DAY WORLD 187 - Mark Pop on Solar Energy

Monday, January 15th, 2007

The word of the day is “Enterdrainment“: Any passive form of entertainment that is so incredibly mind numbing that it sucks the intelligence from the listener or viewer; ultimately over time reducing (or limiting) them to a simplistic proto-human mental state, incapable of cognition or rational thought.
Kind of like this show.
To give you [...]
